A Harare Magistrate today ruled that the Occupy Africa Unity Square activists who were arrested by police in June this year on robbery charges be removed from remand. He urged the state to proceed by way of summons if they intended to proceed with their action.

Among those arrested was journalist Paidamoyo Muzulu who was picked up by police while carrying out his duties. The protesters have been protesting about the disappearance of Itai Dzamara and they demanded that President Robert Mugabe steps down for failing to deal with the declining economic situation.

Also present at the court were the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association executive members Victor Matemadanda and  Douglass Mahiya who turned up in solidarity with the activists.
