A handful of #Tajamuka protesters today stormed ZIMDEF offices in Harare demanding to see Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo who is accused of abusing ZIMDEF funds. They wanted to arrest him.The protesters were singing revolutionary songs demanding an audience with the minister. Professor Moyo is accused of abusing finds of the parastatal by the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission. He has admitted using the the money for purposes alleged but denied charges of corruption.
Leader of Tajamuka Promise Mkwhanazi said they had tried all other avenues to have the minister brought to justice but this has failed. He said that Tajamuka had resorted to effect a citizens’ arrest and have the minister account for his alleged crimes.
Officials at ZIMDEF told protesters that the Minister was not available as he was attending a cabinet meeting. The Tajamuka activists then told journalists that they would pursue Minister Moyo at Munhumutapa offices where cabinet meetings are held.
