Belgian Georges Leekens has signed a three-year deal with the Algeria Football Federation (AFF) as the head coach of Fennecs.
The 67-year-old penned a deal that will see him stay in the North African nation till the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Mr Georges Leekens signed his contract with the Algeria Football Federation this Friday, October 28, 2016 at the National Technical Centre, Sidi Moussa. A contract that will tie him till the Afcon 2019,” the Algerian federation announced on Friday.
The former RSC Anderlecht manager has already began work by meeting with the team’s technical, medical and administrative staff and is looking forward to be briefed before their 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Nigeria.
Leekens is now scheduled to hold his first press conference next Tuesday week in Algiers.
The Belgian returns to Algeria as head coach after first managing the Fennecs in 2003, and will now replace Serbian Milovan Rajevac, who quit the post by mutual consent with the federation
