Econet Wireless Zimbabwe have moved to mend relations with  customers by releasing a press statement justifying recent tariff increases on data.

In a statement the telecoms company said ” Our goal continues to seek to consistently provide you with convenience, choice and value for money”

The company promised to continue engaging POTRAZ on the new tariff regime.Strive Masiiwa ,founder of the biggest telecoms company said that the company was only complying with regulations even though they do not support any action that kills small online businesses.

The new data tariffs will affect internet based start ups such as entertainment outfits  Bus Stop Tv and P O Box TV who depend on social media to market their work.

Dance-hall artists already depend on Whatsapp, Facebook and other internet based platforms to distribute their work.Banks also have online apps that are likely to be interrupted by high charges for data.
