High Court Judge Justice David Mangota today ruled that the Harare City Council and the Zimbabwe Republic Police must stop removing vendors from the Central Business District of Harare until the determination of the matter after a vendor group Vendors Initiative for Social and Economic Transformation (VISET) took the matter to court.
ZRP and Harare Council had issued a 48 ultimatum to vendors to vacate the streets of Harare blaming them for fueling the typhoid outbreak in the city.
Police have been confiscating vegetables and fruits from vendors ever since. Some vendors lost their carts to the local authority.
