Two Zanu PF youth members from the party’s Bulawayo provincial executive have been fired for allegedly failing to handle the ongoing preparations for President Mugabe’s birthday bash to be held in Matobo.

Preparations are at an advanced age for the soon to be 93 years old Mugabe’s birthday that has been dogged by lots of controversy, but two Zanu PF members have become victims of the Mugabe axe.

Munashe Mtutsa who is the ruling party’s youth secretary for education and Davis Muhambi who is the party’s finance secretary have been suspended for undermining the ageing leader and scuttling efforts.

The two who are closely linked to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s faction were suspended at a recent provincial executive meeting by the party’s Youth chair Anna Mokgohloa for among other things ‘disturbing the peace in the province and undermining the President’.

It is alleged that the Mokgohloa announced the suspension of the two indefinitely pending disciplinary action.

Responding to his suspension Mtutsa said they had been fired for calling for accountability on party funds that are meant for the President’s upcoming birthday bash.

“Yes, we have been illegally suspended from the party by one Anna Mokgohloa. They want to extort money from businesses as the party prepares for the President’s birthday. So Muhambi has not been allowing extortion and getting rid of him will not make it easy for them to extort money using the 21st February Movement,” he said.

Mtutsa described his suspension as ‘unconstitutional’ saying he had been suspended at a meeting meant to discuss the President’s birthday further alleging the meeting was not properly constituted to institute

“Their suspension is illegal, unconstitutional, fallacious and frivolous. The meeting was called to discuss the 21st February movement and not personalities. They know they can’t cause for a 2/3 majority vote and hence their flimsy suspension,” he added.

Efforts to get comments from Mokgohloa were fruitless as she did not respond to questions sent by this reporter.
