Civil servants call for strike on 6 March

Today the civil servants labour unions announced that they would be going on a nationwide strike on the 6th of March.

Speaking at a press conference in Harare, Progressive Teachers Union  of Zimbabwe President Mr Raymond Majongwe said that government was disrespecting civil servants and the time to speak with one voice had come.

Government has failed to pay bonuses to civil servants and has offered residential stands instead. This has been rejected by the unions.

In response government ignored the unions and claimed that most civil servants who are not unionized wanted the residential stands.
